See Simon's book reviews on video!
Got a digital camera, and I'm going crazy with it. It's a Canon Powershot A85 (as recommended by Chris the camera specialist) and it takes snippets of video as well as very fine still shots.
I got totally silly with it on Sunday last, and compiled a book review. Two actually:
The Book of Beginnings by Dr R and L Brasch
The Lunar Men by Jenny Uglow
To see what I thought of them - and see what I look like in a good ol' kiwi black singlet - click here to download the video.
I'd really welcome your feedback!
(By the way, the format is loosely borrowed from Richard Wicka's House of the Future concept - by "loosely" I mean the title segment is slightly similar in some ways to his Five Minute Segments.)

I thought this was great, Simon!
It came up a little blurry on my computer -- though that was probably something on my end, not yours.
My only advice is that you should go sans-music next time. It made it a little hard to hear what you were saying.
And I loved Millie's cameo ;-)
Yep, I'd have to second the motion on the sound effects, as it steals from the commentary, which is the "meat" we want. Your book collection chases after a man's heart, and I know, 'cos I've seen it!
Nice going -- darn, love that kiwi sunshine.
More to talk about and more to come, for sure. Let's see what the books are all about, sho enough.
Hey -- something else that came to mind: SY, you'd be a cinch in Santa Monica. I mean, did you realize the money to be made in the "skin industry?" Black tank, and the groovy music?
Who else would know but the "count" himself!
And look -- if Parker-Bowles can do it, surely there's hope for the virile Vatican-loving cu-, er, Count, non?
Hmm...I think someone needs to do a little more research (no, not that kind!).
The "skin trade" does much faster business in THE VALLEY than in Santa Monica...
Righto -- shit, I forgot. Last skin flick I'd made, I was in a haze -- and The Valley could've been S.M. for all I know.
Exsqueeze me.

You guys are so funny! (I hope!) Okay, so next time a little less skin, and a little less music. Am scanning the shelves to see what's next. And - I got a tripod today! Have already filmed myself reading from above. Deeply fascinating, to be sure :)
Oh and also the blurry - yep, that's my doing. I wanted to make a small file size so it wouldn't take too long to upload (and download).
Along those lines, I was at a Macromedia seminar today where they were saying how Flash is becoming the new standard for deploying video over the web. Imagine that - a world where a button saying "play video" actually just plays the video via Flash instead of offering you different files and sizes of files to download.
But I digress... more on that on my other blog at http://simonyoungwriters.com (under Who We Are -> Simon's Blog)
